Clinical Services offered
Family Member (Space available)
Non-urgent dental care for all non-active duty patients is limited to "Space Available" care. Availability of appointments for non-active duty beneficiaries varies greatly thoughout the year and is extremely limited. Active duty family members are strongly encouraged to be enrolled in the TRICARE Family Member Dental Plan (FMDP). Retirees and their family members are encouraged to enroll in the TRICARE Retired Dental Plan.
Host Nation Care Information
There are military dentists available on-post throughout the Rheinland-Pfalz area. These dentists mostly work on Soldiers. Family members are required to get the bulk of their dental treatment off-post utilizing the same dental insurance and the same cost and deductibles as in the United States. Many of the German Dentists have been trained and are board certified in the US. You can expect similar treatment and services off-post in Germany as you had in the US. There is an Army pediatric dentist on staff at Baumholder and Wiesbaden who see all command sponsored children under age 12.
